Harbie

This guy stands guard at an RV park on Harbor Blvd. in Garden Grove, CA pretty near to Disneyland next to the Target I think of as the Disneyland Target. I've always wondered what creature he was - a beaver gone aquatic, tadpole with buck teeth and arms?

When I looked at this picture I saw a name on his base - Harbie! Turns out this was the mascot of Harbor Gas a local gas station chain and there are some other Harbies still around.

The RV Park is interesting too. You have to park in the rear, but you can stay all night:

I always like to see good coverage of libraries in the media. This one isn't bad but does show a lack of knowledge on how libraries are already using technology. Many libraries already offer downloading e-books and the service is not limited to a single e-book reader.

I love the name of the public library in Marlborough, New Hampshire.

John Who?

Was it just me or did other people have that reaction upon hearing about John Hughes' recent death? At first my brain went to the guy who directed Polyester and other movies with Divine - er, not that's John Waters and he's still kicking. Next was John Holmes - nope he was a porn star who died already. Ohhh - John Hughes 80's brat pack guy. Not my generation!

Bonne Marie Burns of ChicKnits had a contest on her blog for yarn. I entered it and then sort of forgot about it. Last Saturday I got an e-mail from her that she was shipping me my prize.
